Jesse Jackson I believe had a speech where he said "Si Se Puede" is Spanish for "We shall overcome". Obviously he is not a linguist, but I thought it was a beautiful translation of a term that means so much in Spanish cultural context by likening it to a phrase that carries so much meaning in the US context.
